update email
hey everyone!
so it has been a VERY long time since my last email
update. actually looking into my old emails, it seems the last update email was
my ‘echu hollywood’ email on 8/30/2005, right before i left for the west coast!
so this one is long overdue. as usual, apologies for the mass email, but i just
have so many friends it’s hard to personalize (yeah right! haha). anyway, i’ll
try to keep this one to a semi-short novel compared to my past updates, but no
promises as i need to cram 1 1/2 yrs worth into this.
so i guess i’ll
start with moving out to to the west coast. i came out to cali in sept. ‘05,
transferring from boston to the los angeles accenture office. and within the
first few weeks i was staffed on a project up in san francisco (the client was
CSAA, basically AAA for the bay area). i worked in sf for about 9 mths, then had
to bounce between sf and phoenix for the next 4 months to help open up a brand
new call center in the phoenix area. the team that i worked with during that
time was absolutely the best experience i’ve had yet at accenture. good people,
good work, good times. sf is an amazing food city so please feel free to hit me
up for some of my recommendations. the best is that there are so many places
where you can get a great meal for around $15. phoenix was unbelievably hot
during the dead of summer, but come fall it’s absolutely gorgeous.
so
that was basically my 2006. obviously there was a lot more than just work; on
the weekends, i’d spend most of my time down in orange county and up in la as
well. i was also able to head back to boston a couple times, a great family
reunion in martha’s vineyard in august and a family vacation to key west,
florida during the holidays.
after taking some time off in january to
attend some work training in chicago (where i met some very cool people from
italy, ireland, england, poland and china), i was staffed back in the bay area
in february ‘07. this time the client was washington mutual bank (wamu) in the
east bay, not as happening a place as sf i must add. after completing my project
at the end of march, i was sent up to the wamu corporate office in seattle to
help with another project with the same client. seattle’s a beautiful city, when
it’s not raining. if you’re ever there, you have to go to pike place market,
it’s basically a huge indoor/outdoor farmer’s market. that was pretty much my
lunch spot during the week. and being from mass, i consider myself a big time

they actually won an award at the great chowder cook-off in rhode island back in
‘06!
so now the big news. during my time in seattle, an opportunity came
my way to work for accenture out in tokyo, japan. so i put my name in the hat,
they interviewed me and extended the offer to go out there. i couldn’t pass it
up, so it looks like i’ll be going to tokyo in the second week of august! but
before heading out there, i’ve taken a short leave of absence from work. the
executive out there also advised that i take some time off because they’re gonna
work me to the bone when i get out there. so i started my "summer vacation" back
in mid-may. i’ve been spending some quality time with friends and family,
started studying japanese, and just enjoying la while i’m out here.
so
come august, a new phase begins. like i mentioned before, i just couldn’t let
this opportunity pass me by. as most of you know, i’m pretty prone to packing up
and heading out somewhere. and now’s the time, being single and i have always
wanted to get some international experience. so the nomadic life continues in
august. tokyo has no idea what it’s in for…or do i have no idea what i’m in
for???
